About
Qapitan Quantum was a Spanish quantum computing company founded by Sergio Gago that built the first marketplace of quantum APIs. It aimed to make quantum computing more accessible by letting customers run simple API requests for domain-specific problems such as portfolio optimization, credit risk analysis, and protein folding, without scouting through hundreds of quantum startups. Described as qubit agnostic and solution agnostic, it positioned itself to help smaller organizations such as hedge funds access the benefits of quantum computing. Headquartered in Spain, Qapitan was part of the country's commercial quantum computing ecosystem alongside companies such as Multiverse Computing, Qilimanjaro, and Quantum Mads. The company was sold, after which Sergio Gago became Managing Director of Quantum Computing and AI at Moody's Analytics and later CTO at Cloudera.
