About

Microsemi, now part of Microchip Technology, is the world leader in timing and network synchronization systems for highly accurate distribution. Its products use GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet, and DOCSIS timing. Microsemi acquired Symmetricom in 2013 for $230 million and was itself acquired by Microchip Technology in 2018 for $8.35 billion. Its atomic clock products include the Chip-Scale Atomic Clock (CSAC-SA65), which operates from -10 to 70 degrees Celsius, measures 17 cubic centimeters, weighs 35 grams, and draws only 120 milliwatts. The MHM-2020 hydrogen maser offers the highest stabilities of any commercially available clock, with a 20-year design life; 95% of the masers deployed since 1999 are still operational. These products support quantum computing, communications, aerospace and defense, IT infrastructure, financial services, and power utilities with end-to-end timing solutions.
