About
Lumenisity was a UK-based photonics company founded in 2017 as a spinout from the University of Southampton. It developed hollow core fiber technology for quantum communications and telecommunications. The company's CoreSmart hollow core fibers enable ultra-low latency data transmission and improved security, which suits them to quantum key distribution (QKD) networks. Compared with traditional solid core optical fibers, the technology reduces signal latency and strengthens data security. Lumenisity served telecommunications operators, financial services, cloud providers, and quantum communication networks that need fast, secure data transmission. In 2022, Microsoft acquired Lumenisity to advance hollow core fiber deployment for its cloud and quantum networking infrastructure.
