About
Lockheed Martin Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Lockheed Martin Corporation, established in 2007 and based in Bethesda, Maryland. It runs an evergreen fund of $400 million, doubled in size in August 2022, and has invested in over 120 companies since inception. The firm backs companies with dual-use technologies that have both commercial and defense applications. Quantum technologies are one of roughly twelve focus areas, alongside artificial intelligence, autonomy and robotics, cybersecurity, and space technologies. Notable quantum computing investments include Q-CTRL, which the firm joined as a new investor in the $113M Series B in October 2024, and D-Wave, an early investment for quantum annealing optimization research. Portfolio companies gain access to Lockheed Martin's defense and aerospace customer network, making the firm a valuable partner for quantum companies targeting government and defense markets.
