About

HyperLight is a Boston-based photonics startup specializing in thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated photonic chips. It produces low-loss optical waveguides and high-speed electro-optic modulators for quantum networking, quantum computing, and classical communications. In August 2025, HyperLight partnered with Xanadu to supply TFLN Chiplet-platform components for Xanadu's Aurora fiber-networked photonic quantum computer. The work demonstrated waveguide losses below 2 dB/m and electro-optic switch losses of roughly 20 mdB, important milestones for scalable photonic quantum interconnects. HyperLight's platform supports both quantum photonic applications, such as low-loss entanglement distribution, and classical coherent optical communications.
