Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Communications at University of Malta Application deadline: Sunday, January 18, 2026Employer web page: https://www.um.edu.mt/research/quantumcommunications/about/Job type: PostDocThis research project will develop a certifiable security hierarchy for Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNGs), enabling quantum randomness technologies to be classified and assessed against clearly defined, verifiable security levels. By grounding the hierarchy in rigorous theoretical models and supporting it with practical validation methodologies, the project aims to provide a robust framework for the trustworthy deployment of QRNGs in security-critical applications.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to the scientific and technical execution of the project, including the development of certification frameworks and validation protocols for quantum randomness. In addition, the successful candidate may become involved in other ongoing research activities within the Quantum Communications group at the University of Malta, including projects on quantum security proofs for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), quantum channels, and quantum networks, depending on expertise and research interests. Applicants must be in possession of a PhD in physics, mathematics, or computer science. Applicants must demonstrate strong expertise in semidefinite programming (SDP), including practical experience with its implementation in Python or Julia. Prior knowledge of quantum information science will be considered an advantage, but it is not a strict requirement.
