Forschungszentrum Jülich is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to develop quantum algorithms for drug discovery, focusing on machine learning and optimization in its Institute for Quantum Computing Analytics. The role involves collaborating with bioinformatics experts to survey and refine quantum algorithms for near-term and fault-tolerant quantum computers, targeting real-world drug discovery applications. Key responsibilities include estimating quantum resource requirements, optimizing data input/output for drug datasets, and publishing research findings in technical reports and scientific journals. Candidates must hold a PhD in physics, computer science, or mathematics, with proven expertise in quantum algorithms or quantum information theory and strong interdisciplinary teamwork skills. Applications are due by February 1, 2026, with submissions directed to Tobias Stollenwerk if the deadline passes. English proficiency is required; German and software development skills are preferred.
