So, what’s next for the Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s adult animated comedy?Although Parker told the New York Times (via The Hollywood Reporter) in early November that his and Stone’s lampooning of President Donald Trump was only planned for the Season 27 for the premiere episode, until, of course, the commander-in-chief and his adminstration became the main subject of mockery in all of Seasons 27 and 28’s episodes.ForbesRecap: ‘South Park’ Season 28 Finale And Ending, ExplainedBy Tim LammersThe South Park Season 28 finale brought to a conclusion of the Trump and pregnant Satan storyline. Whether Parker and Stone will continue to make Trump the main subject of ridicule, of course, is yet to be seen, but even they admitted via Stan Marsh in the show’s “South Park Sucks Now” Halloween episode on Oct. 31 that “things will go back to normal, and in the meantime, we just have to make the most of where we are.”If there is one assurance about the future of South Park, it’s that the show will not only be back for Season 29 in 2026 (and possibly 30 if the show continues its five-episode seasons). In fact, part of the $1.5 billion deal that Parker and Stone struck with Paramount Global as the company completed its merger with Skydance Animation on July 23 was that the duo would complete 50 episodes over the next five years.MORE FOR YOUForbesWill There Be A Season 2 Of Kim Kardashian’s ‘All’s Fair’? Here’s The Good NewsBy Tim LammersAs such, fans can expect new episodes of South Park through 2029. Other parts of the deal included that the new episodes would stream on Paramount+ the day after they premiered on cable’s Comedy Central; and that Paramount+ would become the new streaming home of South Park Seasons 1-26 after previously being available on HBO Max.SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - JULY 24: (L-R) Matt Stone and Trey Parker attend Paramount+’s South Park In San Diego event during 2025 San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, 2025 in San Diego, California. Since Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s mission has always been to be as topical as possible and will not present canned episodes, clearly not a lot of advanced prep-work, story-wise, will have to go into the creation of a new season. While South Park Season 27 premiered on July 23, the show was previously scheduled to begin two weeks prior but got caught up in the then-negotiations between Skydance Media and Paramount Global.Judging by the previous five seasons of South Park, there’s hasn’t been complete consistency on where the show returns to Comedy Central from year to year. Seasons 21 (2017), 22 (2018), 23 (2019) and the first of the two-episode Season 24 (2020) all debuted in September. After Season 24 returned with its second and final episode in March of 2021, Seasons 25 and 26 each began in February.ForbesHow Soon Is ‘Predator: Badlands’ Coming To Streaming?By Tim LammersIn short, it appears that it’s Parker and Stone who mostly dictate when new seasons of South Park begin, and given the inconsistent schedules for Seasons 27 and 28 — where new episodes were released every other week (with a couple of three-week breaks, to boot) — when the duo will return with Season 29 is anybody’s guess. The only certainty is that, per Parker and Stone’s contract, fans will be treated to at least 10 more new episodes of South Park sometime in 2026.All 10 episodes of South Park Seasons 27 and 28 are streaming exclusively on Paramount+.ForbesGuillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ Gets Collectibles Of The Creature And MoreBy Tim LammersEditorial StandardsReprints & PermissionsLOADING VIDEO PLAYER...FORBES’ FEATURED Video
