US lawyers argued Friday that US District Judge James Boasberg has no constitutional authority to proceed with hearings he plans for Dec. 15 and 16 and compel testimony from current and former government attorneys. Boasberg has clashed repeatedly with President Donald Trump’s administration over the judge’s order on March 15 directing the return of planes carrying suspected Venezuelan gang members to a notorious El Salvador prison.
