A further 12 people have also been hospitalised including two police officers. Gunmen opened fire at the north end of the beach and had since been “neutralised”, according to the New South Wales police. One person who spoke to the Financial Times but declined to be named, said that a friend of hers had been shot in the shoulder at the event and that the names of casualties, including a child, were already circulating throughout the Jewish community. Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement: “The scenes in Bondi are shocking and distressing.
