Open interest was down 2,056 contracts. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $71.43 on Tuesday afternoon, up $1.39 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was back up 3 cents on December 5 at $81.84. USDA’s pork carcass cutout value from the Tuesday PM report was back up 93 cents to $96.44 per cwt. The picnic, ham, and belly primals were the only reported higher. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday at 493,000 head, taking the week to date total to 981,000 head.
