Critic and audience reviews are now in, and so far, they’re proving as stellar as season 1. Not just that, but Fallout season 2, combined with season 1, has just set at least three Rotten Tomatoes records.FalloutRotten TomatoesWith a 98% critic score, Fallout season 2 is the highest-scored season 2 of any live-action video game TV adaptation ever. The same is true for its current 96% audience score. That score, combined with season 1, makes Fallout overall the highest scored live-action video game TV adaptation period, dual 95% scores between critics and audiences. That’s compared to offerings like The Last of Us (94% critic, 62% audience), Twisted Metal (79% critic, 89% audience), Halo (80% critic, 61% audience). Depending on if you want to count The Witcher, that’s at a 75% critic score, 46% audience score. The message here is that video game fans are largely hard to please with adaptations, and Fallout has gotten things very, very right. The final record is that Fallout season 2 is tied for the highest audience score across any video game adaptation, animation as well, including a 100% critic scored one like Arcane (81% audience), the beloved Castlevania (90% audience) and the 96% critic scored Devil May Cry (66% audience). As of right now, Fallout is tied with the all-time great Cyberpunk Edgerunners, with both having 95% audience scores. Season 2 of Fallout has a 96%, so we could see that tick up or down in time. ForbesThe ‘Fallout’ Season 2 Episode-Release Schedule After Its Last-Minute Premiere ChangeBy Paul TassiIt is early, but on both counts, season 2 of Fallout is reviewing better than the first, which has a 93%/93% split to season 2’s 98%/96%. It’s a big win for Amazon, where the series also got 17 Emmy nominations, including for Best Drama and Lead Actor. It only won for costumes and prosthetic makeup, but still. This season, Fallout has headed to Las Vegas, now deemed New Vegas, the site of one of the most beloved games in the video game series. That may lead to some dangerous waters in terms of keeping fans happy, but at least from the premiere, things seem to be going well.
